And what a list it is! I may have to sell my car just to keep my monster from raging. See all the glorious details after the jump.

Black Keys Brothers Ltd. Ed. Winner Revealed!

The hell with the Oscars! There was a much bigger competition going on last night; who was going to walk away with the Black Keys Brothers limited edition vinyl bundle!

Well, it appears the stars were aligned for Kati Howard of South Shore, KY. Does Kentucky really have a shore (North, South, or other)? Doesn't matter. Because the very limited, very new, very sealed, and very sought after vinyl is on its way to its new home. Please be a responsible guardian, Kati!

So, congrats to Kati and thanks to all those who participated. And if you weren't as lucky as Kati this time around, don't be discouraged. I will be doing more give-aways just like this in the very near future. So, keep checking back or follow/like on twitter or fb for all the latest news and information.

Thanks again.

Morrissey Vinyl News!

Pic: Hamish Brown

According to the Morrissey fanzine site, true-to-you, Morrissey will be issuing two important vinyl releases; The Very Best Of Morrissey with bonus DVD to be released 25th April, and Glamorous Glue single with two previously unreleased songs taken from the Viva Hate recording sessions. Check all the details here so you don't miss out.

G Love - Fixin' To Die Out This Week, with Limited 7"!

The mere fact that the Avetts produced this album intrigues me enough to fork over the clams. And G Love is awesome in his own right! So, combine the two and you get a no-brainer. I was stoked when I first heard about this collaboration a couple of months ago.

It’s  out this week, and there’s a special 7” single that participating record stores will include at time of purchase (if they’ve still got some, this one’s gonna go fast). So, put those feet of yours to good use and get out to support you local record shop.

Either way, you should get a kick out of this. Authentically found or intentionally altered album cover art found here.

Black Keys - Brothers Limited Edition Deluxe Vinyl Give-away!

No joke, kids. I'm giving away a brand new, unopened, out of print, numbered limited edition super deluxe vinyl set of The Black Keys' Brothers LP - Pressed on two 180 gram heavy-weight discs and cut at 45 RPM for an extreme audiophile experience. The set includes a bonus 10" disc of six previously unreleased performances recorded live in the studio, the complete album on CD, as well as a GIANT limited edition poster. See all the details from my previous post here.

As you've probably noticed, this site is dedicated to vinyl - finding vinyl, reporting news about vinyl, suggesting vinyl gear, tipping you off to limited releases and where to cop them, and so much more. Keeping my ear to the ground - it's what I dig and I enjoy spreading the knowledge. I try to keep the music styles I blog about balanced but it's impossible to appeal to everyone's tastes. Essentially, if it's something that gets my tone arm stiff, I'll let you know about it here.

OK, so here's the deal; I'm giving this beautiful vinyl set away to kick start the launch of my new facebook and twitter pages. To enter, follow @VHounds on Twitter and retweet the @VHounds giveaway announcement tweet, or "Like" the Vinyl Hounds Facebook page and send an email to VinylHounds@comcast.net with the subject line "I'm a Vinyl Addict". The Giveaway begins at 9AM Eastern Time ("ET") on February 19, 2011 and ends at 3PM ET on February 27, 2011. A winner will be chosen at random and notified on or about February 28, 2011.

Thanks so much for your support! And rember to keep the vinyl spinning!

Here's a little sample to get the blood pumping...

A Vinyl Search Engine to Keep Your Eye On

As reported by Mashable:
Not everyone has an awesome neighborhood record store run by an obsessive, borderline recluse who can suggest a disc based on the way you walk and your choice of drink.

That’s why engineer Lucas Hrabovsky created Find You Some Vinyl, a search engine for finding records, at Music Hack Day in New York City.

Collectors Frenzy

iPhone Screenshot 2
Thinking about selling your vinyl? Ready to get that valuable collection insured? Or maybe you're just curious what the true market value of your treasured vinyl is. Either way, here's a great site I stumbled upon today; www.collectorsfrenzy.com. It fishes auction results from eBay just like Popsike.com does but only better - friendlier interface, easy on the eyes, will give you the days top sellers and, best of all, there's an iPhone App!

Imagine if you're out crate digging and come across that odd curiosity or that certain hard to find 45, then just punch it into the search field directly on your iPhone App and get the instant market value! Fuckin' awesome if you ask me! The App is $1.99 but just think about the potential if you're digging in the dollar bin and find some obscure bullshit you never heard of or seen before and then realize you've just found the Holy Grail!

If nothing else, it's a fun time waster and provides tons of interesting data.

Elbow - Build A Rocket Boys! Vinyl Pre-order!

If you're not familiar with these guys, you need to check them out because I can not recommend a band more - totally lovin' on these guys since their first release Asleep in the Back (2001). Every release since has only solidified their place as one of the UK's best exports of the new millennium.

Their last album, The Seldom Seen Kid (2008) was one of their most successful, winning the Mercury Music Prize for album of the year with the band being voted Best British Band at The BRITS in 2009.

This is a "UK only" release and, if you're in the States, you'll pay a premium for shipping. I say it's well worth it. I'm as anxious for this as I am for the new Radiohead LP. And that saying a lot. The vinyl issue is only available at the band's website. Full details and song sample after the jump...

Last Ever Jack White/Third Man Post!

Really! I'm quite sick of him at this moment. Not as an artist or performer. But as a record label boss. How much nonsense can he stand to release? I mean, does anyone really want to buy a 7" of an auctioneer rambling on and on about a mock auction? Don't answer that! Even from a collector's point of view, how can you keep up? At the rate he's issuing all these vinyl gimmicks, you'll be broke by Spring. Enough already.

Is he taking advantage of record label completists? You decide. I've already stopped buying all his bullshit releases.

Read all the details as ripped off from Pitchfork after the jump...

R.I.P. White Stripes

Really? Didn't they already break up, like, three years ago? Is this really a shock to anyone? I mean, Icky Thump came out in 2007 and the only other things they've done since have been one live dvd/cd/lp and several vinyl re-issues by TMR.

Does all of this mean that Jack can finally focus more of his time on Third Man and pressing limited edition peanut butter and banana swirl vinyl and flying pig turntables? Thank God!

Good riddance, fare thee well, Jack and Meg. Maybe now we can all pay a little more attention to that other two-piece blues outfit that truly deserve all the hype!
