Band of Horses - Cee Lo Limited Edition Split 7"
Announcing the new split single featuring the Band of Horses cover of “Georgia” by Cee Lo Green and Cee Lo’s cover of “No One’s Gonna Love You.”
Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses recalls the genesis of the "Georgia" single: "This began as a very random idea I had on my dad's patio after we watched our beloved Georgia Bulldog football team get robbed of a win at the hands of the referees and LSU last year. I knew I wanted to pay homage to my favorite team in song but didn't have any idea how to begin. Once I heard Cee Lo's 'Georgia,' I was immediately smitten and figured that's as good as any tribute to any state I've ever heard. It wasn't until I heard his cover of our song though that it occurred to me: Duh, we should return the favor. Incorporating the Redcoat marching band was just the icing on the cake! This song is so nostalgic to me as my parents grew up in Atlanta and have so many family members in the great state of Georgia. It's always been a second home of sorts. We've played some great shows there as well, including our run of annual New Year's Eve shows in Atlanta from 2007-2009."

Calling All Creative Types!
If you're like me, your love of music goes way beyond vinyl. And if you're lucky enough to be talented, too... well, then I'm extremely jealous but, more importantly, you should have a go at these two contests. Let the creative juices flow, as they say.
First is the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Entries are being accepted until October 29 and the winning song will be selected by Yoko Ono. Budding songwriters working in any genre should go to www.jlsc.com and follow the entry procedure. Contestants also will be entered for the chance to win a new electric Epiphone “Inspired By” John Lennon Casino guitar and GHS Strings, or one of two Sibelius and Apple iPod Shuffle prize packs, as runner up. The John Lennon Songwriting Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters who submit entries in any one of 12 categories. The JLSC features two sessions – with 72 Finalists, 24 Grand Prize Winners, 12 Lennon Award Winners and 1 Song of the Year.
Second is a music video contest for the Josh Ritter song "Long Shadows". Josh and the band made a home-made video for the song and now they're encouraging you to do the same. They're looking for a "one-shot" style video similar to the one they made, with no edits and no fancy video equipment. Check out details here.

This collection presents for the first time the most sought after of Jimi's pre-Experience recordings as a sideman for such Rhythm & Blues stars as The Isley Brothers, Don Covay, Little Richard and others.
The LPs feature previously unreleased and commercially unavailable studio recordings from every chapter of his career, live recordings with the Experience and Band Of Gypsys spanning 1967 through 1970.
The studio recordings include never before released [or even bootlegged!] alternate versions of such classic fare as Are You Experienced, Fire, May This Be Love, Love Or Confusion and many more. In addition, new songs such as Hear My Freedom, Hound Dog Blues and Lonely Avenue make their debut as part of this special collection.
To provide further insight and understanding into Hendrix s creative development, WCSB presents acoustic and electric home recordings of Electric Ladyland signature songs such as Long Hot Summer Night, 1983 (A Merman I Shall Turn To Be), as well as My Friend and Angel later featured as part of First Rays Of The New Rising Sun. WCSB also features another major revelation an electric demo version of Bob Dylan s Tears Of Rage .
