SOUNDCHECK HOLLYWOOD Record Store Opening on Sunset Strip!

File this under Who Cares What Everyone Else Is Doing! This guy's doing his own thing...

In an age where music retailers are closing at a rapid rate and record labels are going bankrupt due to online piracy and declining sales, Sumerian Records creator Ash Avildsen has taken a stand to prove that there is still an undeniable excitement to buying physical product. Avildsen has now boldly put his money where his mouth is by announcing the launch of SoundCheck Hollywood (located across from the infamous Whisky A Go-Go on the Sunset Strip and a couple doors down from the Viper Room) — a store that harkens back to the days when Tower Records ruled the strip and also served as a place for musicians and music fans to unite.

Mark your calendars folks! Black Sabbath has just announced that a new live vinyl record will be released on 1/11/11 and will be limited to only 3,000 copies.

Black Sabbath: Live at Hammersmith Odeon is a three-LP, 180 gram triple gatefold LP that will be released through Metal Club. It features Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Terry “Geezer” Butler, and Vinny Appice at Hammersmith Odeon, London in January 1982 during the band’s The Mob Rules tour. The setlist includes the Dio-era “Neon Knights,” “Heaven And Hell,” and “Children Of The Sea” as well as earlier classics like “War Pigs” and “Paranoid.”

Unfortunately, Metal Club only has participating stores in the U.S and Canada. Visit their website to find your closest location so you can map out your January 11th journey.
