If you are a fanatical Bon Iver devotee and find yourself drooling at this very moment (they've probably already clicked the link above and haven't even gotten this far), you may not be able to hold off on your purchase. But experience tells me that you may benefit by waiting. Sometimes, and I'm stressing the word "sometimes" here, the label or artist will make a pre-order available that includes added incentives that make buying direct the preferred method (i.e. deluxe packaging, autographed items, limited edition colored pressings, etc., etc., etc.).
