Girls - Father, Son, Holy Ghost Pre-order!

I just heard the new Girls tune, "Vomit", off of the forthcoming LP Father, Son, Holy Ghost, and I'm convinced. I want this album (not THAT Album, their debut LP but THIS album, their new one.) Confused yet? Me, too. One thing I am sure about; don't go trying to google "girls vomit" to locate their new jam. Trust me on that. Instead, I embedded it below for your listening pleasure. Take it to the one-minute mark; is that a fuckin' Hammond organ? Oh, yeah! How about the solo at 2:20; ain't that some righteous fuzzbox?!? And make sure to play it through to end! You'll dig the soaring "Pink Floydian" backing vocal.

The new LP hits on 9/13 via True Panther. You can pre-order over at Insound. If you're quick enough, you'll score a very nice exclusive poster designed by Christopher Owens!

Here's your taste:

Loney Dear - Pre-order Hall Music on Cyan Vinyl Limited to 300 Copies!

Swedish singer-songwriter Emil Svanangen, aka Loney Dear, releases Hall Music on October 4th and according to a press release, the 11-track album is about 30 minutes long and features the Swede exploring sounds that are "orchestral and synthesized; organic and invented." What the hell does that mean?!?

I'm passing the pre-sale info on, however, because there is a limited edition Cyan Vinyl limited to 300 copies. Get it at Polyvinyl. Check out the first single below. Review: Buffalo Killers - 3

Buffalo Killers - Circle Day by alivenaturalsound

Buffalo Killers – 3 (2011, Alive Records)

Typically, you’ll find features on this blog about established artists with a solid following. The fact the people have an interest in an artist or a band is exactly why I post to this blog - hip you to what you want to know, right? So as not to miss out on that rare limited edition chocolate swirl vinyl that will get gobbled up the instant it hits the street or, given the current trend for pre-orders, sold out before its even pressed! That’s why you’re here, right?
Well, this is a feature unlike any other I’ve dished out. I feel duty-bound to throw something new at you because it needs sayin’, it’s these bearded, denim-clad souls that call themselves the Buffalo Killers. They kill all right. They’re a rock trio from Cincinnati, Ohio but they lay down some hazy, fuzzed out bits of psychedelic sunshine that spill straight from the hills of Southern California circa 1972. The band consists of brothers, Zach and Andy Gabbard, and drummer, Joey Sebaali.

Lissie - Little Lovin'

Sure, it's gratuitous. And it's a sell-out. Not to mention deliberate and calculated. But, fuck it, who cares! It's all about getting your music out there – consumed… digested… and shat out for further consumption. I say good for her!

So, what’s all this I’m blabbering about? Well, Lissie, one of my favorite artists of the last twelve months or so, has teamed up with American Eagle to film a video/long-ass-commercial for her song “Little Lovin’” The song is UH-mazing and deserving of any brazen exposure it can get.

So, here I am, throwing it up for a few more eyeballs (and ears) to enjoy. If you’re not familiar with Lissie, I strongly suggest you bathe yourself in her music ‘til it’s soaked through your skin and entered your bloodstream. Enjoy.

The War On Drugs - Slave Ambient Pre-order Is Up: first 75 Get It On Red Vinyl

From the Secretly Canadian Website:

The War On Drugs’ sprawling Slave Ambient is out August 16 on Secretly Canadian. Following the release of the instant classic “Baby Missiles” we now share with you the album’s centerpiece “Come to the City” in which head honcho Adam Granduciel takes the show to the next level. It’s a modern American outsider classic; a straight-up jam. All goosebumps and fist pumps; and Granduciel howling and moaning over his epic, phased Firebird guitars.

“Come to the City” also happens to include what very well may be my favorite The War on Drugs lyric: “Drinking up all the sweet tea/It was made/Just for me.” CLAZZIG.

Slave Ambient is also now available for pre-order, the first 75 vinyl orders of which will receive the limited-run oh-so-fancy ruby red LP version of the record (see the sweet pic below). There are also several great War on Drugs catalogue bundle deals. Get it all HERE.

Iron and Wine - 4AD Session

With a blog entry like this, I'd normally go yammering on about how good a song is or how talented an artist is. Instead I've decided to let the music do all the talking. All I'll add is the link to purchase the vinyl. Which you'll most likely do after hearing the gorgeous song.

If you live in Detroit, You may want to check this out!

black-milk-jack-white.jpg

The collaboration between Detroiters Black Milk and Jack White has come become reality with two new tracks that surfaced online this week.

Milk posted the tracks on his blog, calling the work with White "one of the greatest moments in my career." Now based in Nashville, White called on Milk to perform a live show at his Third Man Records; an album with those live recordings is still in the works.

"Brain" and "Royal Mega" are the first two tastes of what's to come from the collaboration. It's
available on iTunes and at Milk's online store, and 100 (that's right, just 100) limited edition vinyl copies will be available at People's Records in Detroit on Friday.

Listen to the first two tracks after the jump!

Am I The Only One Who's Pissed Off About Radiohead's New Caribou/Jacques Greene remix being 15 fuckin' dollars?

$15.99, actually, at my shop. Really, what in the hell? It's a 12" single! It shouldn't cost that much for a full length, honestly (but that's a whole other story). I thought it was just the majors gauging away at us vinyl lovers but, reality is they're all doing it now, indies included.

Best of 2011, So Far - Vinyl Hounds' Top 28!

Everyone else is doing it, why not me? I mean, really, why not? The one thing I've gleaned from all those other "best of" lists is that everyone's stroking the same bands (you know who they are). I feel like I'm being force fed a steady dose of blogosphere hype. Seems more like a popularity contest, if you ask me. So, fuck all them, here's my list.

Well, if you've been a follower of this blog for little bit, you probably have a good feel for my taste (or lack thereof) and might have an idea of what's to follow. If not, I hope I can enlighten you to some truly amazing music. It's been a good year, so far, if you ask me, and I'm looking forward to what's yet to come. So, here's my top 28. Yeah, 28, you got a problem with that?
