Black Lips “Arabia Mountain” LP + 7″ Preorder!

So, initially, I didn't post about this pre-order because I thought "Oh, another Black Lips record, whatever." I just never fell for these guys and felt each LP didn't live up to the hype. So, I was kinda thinking this LP would be more of the same. Their newest, “Arabia Mountain”, finds the band tweaking the original formula ever so slightly; the songs I've heard are catchier and more polished (which may turn off some hardcore fans) thanks partially to the production by Mark Ronson.

If you're looking for more of the same, you may be disappointed. Me, I am really diggin'  it. You can preorder the LP on marble vinyl with a bonus 7″ (limited to first 300 orders) for $16.99 at Insound.

The National to reissue Cherry Tree EP on June 28th

About Today Cover Art

The National - About Today

Head nod to CoS for the tip...

By Alex Young

Last summer, Brassland reissued The National‘s first two albums — their 2001 self-titled debut and 2003′s Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers — on vinyl. On June 28th, the label, which was co-founded by the band’s Aaron and Bryce Dessner, will do the same to the 2004 EP Cherry Tree.

Originally released in July 2004, the 7-track effort includes “Reasonable Man (I Don’t Mind)” featuring Padma Newsome of Clogs, plus a live version of “Murder Me Rachael” from France Inter’s Black Sessions. The reissue, due for release on June 28th, will be limited to 3,000 copies, 500 of which will be pressed on a special edition red vinyl. The other 2,500 copies will be pressed on black vinyl.

According to Brassland, the red vinyl will be exclusively available via the label’s online store. Also, both the red and black editions will contain the third part of the triptych poster that was packaged in last year’s pressings of the first and second record. Below, you can stream a track off Cherry Tree in the form of “About Today” (via Brassland’s Bandcamp).

Brassland also tells us that there are plans for a box set featuring the vinyl reissues of the self-titled debut, Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, and Cherry Tree, though nothing is official. In the meantime, the label will be celebrating its 10th anniversary with a series of upcoming giveaways, so it’d be a good idea to bookmark their website, Twitter, and Facebook.

Bon Iver's Forthcoming LP Now Available for Pre-order at Amazon.com!

Bon Iver's self-titled LP is now available for pre-order at Amazon.com for $19.14 - not a great price but I'm uncertain what's included in the packaging. Get it here.

If you are a fanatical Bon Iver devotee and find yourself drooling at this very moment (they've probably already clicked the link above and haven't even gotten this far), you may not be able to hold off on your purchase. But experience tells me that you may benefit by waiting. Sometimes, and I'm stressing the word "sometimes" here, the label or artist will make a pre-order available that includes added incentives that make buying direct the preferred method (i.e. deluxe packaging, autographed items, limited edition colored pressings, etc., etc., etc.).

With that said, I would recommend keeping a close eye here or sign up for updates here. And if all else fails, I'll hip you to the news right here.
